Massage TherapistHi, I’m Sharon, member of Dr. Dot’s team in Amsterdam, one of the most lively and colourful cities in the world. Known for its tolerance and diversity, you immediately feel at home in this small - yet cosmopolitan – city.
Born in the Netherlands as a child of an Asian mother and European father, my choice to start practicing shiatsu - a massage form that is a mixture of Western and Eastern components – only seems natural.
During my university years, I studied in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Spain and Portugal and travelled through Asia and South America. Back in Amsterdam I have been working as an independent communications professional for several years.
I have always enjoyed to broaden my horizon and to go off the beaten career track. That’s the reason why I now have been trained in shiatsu massage, a non-oil technique using not only thumbs and palms but also elbows and knees. Shiatsu massages are best practiced on the floor or a chair and I usually bring a futon or massage chair - although I can also work with a massage table. Chair massage is ideal for situations like backstage when you need an energy boost or relaxing moment and you do not have a lot of time.
While working as a qualified shiatsu masseuse, I continue to study to become a shiatsu therapist to bring this massage form to an even higher and more proficient level. For me, working in an environment with mostly international and devoted people inspires me to improve myself as well and work to the highest possible goal in my own area. And besides that working in the Dr. Dot team is always an experience in itself.
The strength is in the mix! I look forward to working with you.
Sharon
P.S. I speak Dutch, English and Spanish and a few words Portuguese, German and French.
My practice is usually open from 9.30-15.00 hrs on monday, tuesday and friday; from 9.30-12.00 hrs on wednesday and thursday. Weekends or evenings on request.
