Massage TherapistHi there! My name is Cari, Dr. Dot’s assistant in upstate, NY.
Here is a little about myself:
I have an awesome daughter, who is 11 almost 12 whom, I love very much and she looks very much like me. We do a lot of things together. I enjoy the outdoors and am a very active person. I like to be on the go a lot. I love to play softball and hang with family and friends. They all mean the world to me.
When I was younger I moved around a lot, mostly throughout small towns of upstate, NY. But at the age of 10, I started massaging my favorite Aunt, who has Spina Bifida. I can remember that I was the only one strong enough and curious enough to work out the muscle spasms that would occur in her back and handle the fibrous/ropy feel to her muscles. I had always enjoyed helping others and once I started working on my Aunt, I realized my calling. I seemed to have this great ability to “feel” an issue in the muscle and release any tension that comes from it as though it were second nature. As the years passed I read anything I could get my hands on, on the muscles and massage. During my senior year of high school, I found there were no schools in my area, no scholarships available for massage school and none that accepted financial aid. But I had decided massage was what I wanted to do so I was ready to take on a personal loan to attend the Swedish Institute in NYC when I received a letter informing me that I had received a softball scholarship to a Division I college. I of course was excited since softball being a huge passion of mine and at 18 to play D-I ball was a dream come true. So I took the scholarship and majored in Marketing and minored in Physical therapy, I had to get to the muscles somehow!
After graduating with my degree I settled back in my home town with my daughter and worked in the corporate world for a marketing firm for nearly 7 years. I can honestly say that I like marketing and I enjoyed the job but it wasn’t what I LOVED and I was not completely happy. So, I decided to apply to the massage school in my then area, that had opened shortly after I graduated high school, at which I was accepted and completed my 1000 hours of course material, sat for my NYS boards and passed! And here I am today, finally doing what I LOVE! I spoil and help people everyday with my bodywork. I specialize in Relaxation, Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Thai-Yoga, ROM and stretching, Shiatsu, Reflexology, A.R.T. (Active Release Techniques), Kinesio Taping when needed.
How I came to be a Dr. Dot Assistant:
A friend of mine works at a venue where I live and at one show Dr. Dot’s team was backstage. He had sent me the information to check it out. I went to her site and after reading over her bio and checking into her you tube videos, CNN interviews etc. I emailed Dr. Dot and told her that what she did was amazing and I was curious what being an assistant would entail. As I noticed there were not any assistants in upstate NY. After emailing back and forth a few times we set an audition date and after a few reschedules I had made the drive to audition with her personally in New York City. While auditioning she told me I had “Strong hands” and “Great forearm work” and hired me.
I am available throughout upstate, NY in places such as: Syracuse, Albany, Saratoga, Rochester and Binghamton, to name a few. I am also available 24/7. I’m very excited to work as her assistant and look forward to working on you!
